Introduction

My Engineering journey started in 2019. College life was altogether a different experience with new friends, fests and lots of exams!! Soon lockdown happened and it all shifted to Online mode. To date in my Engineering journey, I have come across some great opportunities, especially for Women in Tech. Some of the opportunities that I came across through social media and some that I got to know when other women got selected for the same.

This article will help you out right away in knowing the best Scholarships and Internships so you don't miss out on any and have an extraordinary experience pursuing Tech!!

1. Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC)

GHC is the world’s largest gathering of women and non-binary technologists. The Programme is named after Grace Hopper a Computer Scientists and a US Navy Officer. The GHC 2022 will be held on October 1st-4th, 2022 in hybrid mode(Virtual for GHC scholars).

Those who attend GHC gain access to career and academic workshops, networking opportunities, inspirational role models, and memories that will last a lifetime! It's for students as well as for degree teaching Women staff. The eligibility is to be 18+ and a student during the time of celebration.

2. Women we tech maker

Google’s Women Techmakers Empowers Women Globally.

Formerly the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship Program, Google’s Women Techmakers (WTM) program aims to create gender equality in the tech industry by encouraging women to excel and take lead roles in this field. The eligibility to be a First-year or Second-year student of your Undergraduate technical program. You get to build a strong network and also a great Scholarship amount is provided.

3. Adobe SheCodes

Adobe SheCodes is an initiative by Adobe to provide Internship and Full-Time Roles to women in technology in order to promote diversity and empower women to take up an active role in technological careers.

The selection procedure has 3-4 rounds that you need to successfully clear. It's mainly for Second Year and Third Year women pursuing degree courses. Adobe reaches out to all colleges by itself and is an On-campus opportunity basically. The first round of the Adobe SheCodes is conducted in the month of September.

4. Outreachy

Outreachy provides internships in open source and open science. The internship period is of 90-100 days with Stipends are around $5k-$7k. There are some great open-source projects for you to get started. After the initial application if you get selected there will be a contribution period of 1 month. Finally, after that, the interns would be selected accordingly.

Outreachy's goal is to increase diversity in open source.

5. STEP by Google

If you have just started out pursuing tech as an undergrad. This is something that you don't wanna miss out on!! A stellar off-campus Google Internship Opportunity.

STEP (Student Training in Engineering Program), formerly known as Engineering Practicum, is a 12-week internship for first and second-year undergraduate students with a passion for computer science.

There are two program date options (must be available for the entirety of the program):

May 25 - August 12, 2022

June 13 - September 2, 2022

6. Flipkart Runway.

Runway aims at laying an early foundation for women in engineering by giving them early exposure to developmental opportunities through challenging & real-time problem statements, mentoring, and networking opportunities.

It's an 8-week internship around May and the eligibility is to be a Second-year woman in Engineering. To get selected you need to give an Online test and the further interview details would be shared depending on your test scores.

7. GSSoC

Girl Script Summer of Code

GirlScript is the fastest-growing tech community in India. It is a non-profit project brought to you by GirlScript Foundation to help beginners in technology(all gender). It's a three-month-long program in the first half of the year. If you're an absolute beginner in OpenSource this is for you. I personally started my Open Source journey through GSSoC.
